The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Displeasure Regarding Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Required Changes
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
